Goodluck Jonathan Travels On Buhari's Presidential Jet Again For International Assignment

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has landed in Bamako, the capital city of Mali is one of the Presidential Jets belonging to President Muhammad Buhari.

The former president and his crew landed in the West African country on Monday evening.

This is not the first time the former president will be seen with the Presidential jet after leaving office. Goodluck Jonathan used the aircraft several times in 2020 during his peacekeeping assignment in the West African country.

The former President was appointed by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as a special envoy to facilitate peace in Mali. Jonathan and his team visited Mali several times in 2020. The team is working towards returning Mali to a democratic State after the military took over in August 2020. The team returned to the West African country on Monday to get an update on the latest development in the country.

"It is always nice to return to the warm embrace of the good people of Mali. We (#Ecowas mediation team) have just arrived in Bamako for an update on the progress being made by the Transition Govt as it implements its programs towards the restoration of democracy." Jonathan said on his Twitter handle.

The constant use of the Presidential jet by Goodluck Jonathan means that there's a cordial relationship between him and President Muhammad Buhari. Despite the enmity between their supporters, the two leaders have to remain united. Jonathan has visited Buhari several times in Aso Rock in the last one year.

However, some Nigerians have argued that it is wrong for the former President of using the Presidential jet because the aircraft is for serving president only.

What's your take on this? Is it right for Jonathan to use the Presidential jet?

What could be the reason for the friendship between the two leaders?
