The Actor That Was Found Dead Yesterday, See 3 Films He Acted In Which Will Always Remind Us Of Him

2021 is yet to go far, yet Nollywood has recorded several deaths already. From David Mela, a fast-rising actor who died of an undisclosed ailment in January; to Jim Lawson, the veteran actor who died in January also after reportedly complaining of body pains; to Folake Aremu, the Yoruba actress popularly known as Orisabunmi, whose death came as a shock to many Nigerians. Again was the case of a budding Nollywood actress, Sotonye Green, who reportedly died of COVID-19, making her the first Nollywood actor to die of COVID-19. Then came the news of Ernest Asuzu, whose death touched the hearts of his fans to their marrows.

As if that wasn't enough, death struck again, and this time, it came for a veteran actor who has kept us entertained on the screen for years.

Victor Decker was found dead inside his apartment yesterday, February 15th, by his neighbours. Victor Decker died at the age of 72.

The Mayor of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abuja, Jesse Nazareth, while speaking to Punch about the death of the veteran actor, said that it was his neighbours that discovered his death.

His neighbours did not see him for days, and were concerned about him. So they went to his door and knocked, but there was no response, and after that, they broke the door into the house. And to their biggest shock, they found the actor sitting on the chair, lifeless. They said that the body was already decomposing, and was smelling, which means he had died days before that, without anyone's knowledge.

For now, no one knows the cause of the actor's death.

Victor Decker will always be remembered for his impacts on the Nigerian film industry. He had made a name for himself through some of the films he featured in, and these are the works that will always remind us of him.

Even though he had featured in several movies, there are 3 notable films which really stood him out, and which will always remind us of him.

Double Strings.

Produced by the award-winning Lilian Afegbai and directed by Tokar McBarow, Double Strings was a really major one for the late Victor Decker. The film enjoyed critical reviews on several media platforms, and was well received by the public.

Victor Decker featured alongside several stars which included - Anne Idibia, Lilian Afegbai, Osas Ighodaro, Eddie Watson, Greg Ojefua, Stephen Demian, Layole Oyatogun Ushbebe, and several others.

If I Am President.

This is another film which will always remind us of the late actor, as it was one of those films he featured in that enjoyed rave reviews online. The film told the story of young idealists who made their way into their way into the murky waters of politics to become a force to beat in the elections.

Victor Decker featured with several other established Nollywood greats like Bimbo Manuel, Rahama Sadau, Ivie Okujaye, Bryan Okwara, Joke Silva, Uzee Usman, Sydney Diala, Osas Iyamu, and several others.

Released in 2017, Lotanna is another of those films that would always keep Victor Decker's name alive in our hearts.

Produced by Ifan Ifeanyi Michael and directed by Tokar McBarow, again, Victor returned to the screen starring alongside some of the biggest names in the industry - Chris Attoh, Liz Benson, Jide Kosoko, Victor Olaotan, Bimbo Manuel, Chris Okagbue, Ama Ababrese, and several others.

These deaths in Nollywood are becoming too much, and even scary - we hope the leaders of the guilds in the industry will start looking into the affairs of some of these actors and see how life is going with them. It hurts to lose our favourite actors and actresses in these unfortunate ways. It's supposed to be an industry where those that have look out for those who have not made so much from the industry like the rest of them.

Even though the cause of Victor Decker's death is not known, we hope his death, just like the death of other actors, will be a wake-up call for the heads of guilds in the industry.

Please drop some words of condolences for the dead actor, and share the article so that the guild leaders in the industry will see this.
