According to the information we gathered at the early hours of yesterday, being monday, unknown gunmen invaded a Nigerian correctional centre in Owerri, Imo State capital and set the vehicles and building ablaze while the officers scampered for safety.
Report had it that over 1,800 prison inmates escaped from the correctional facilities while six persons later returned, and 35 refused to escape from the facility.
Our team of researchers were surprised to have learnt that about 35 persons refused to escape from the facility considering the nature of human being in relation to freedom, and they decided to embark on research to unravel the mystery behind their action, and we realised that there are factors behind their decision to stay back in the prison custody.
1. Some of the inmates who refused to escape from the correctional centre are already completing their jail term, so it will be unwise for them to leave the facility and be found later somewhere which may likely lead to increase in their punishment.
2. Some of the prisoners were afriad to leave the prison custody because they may be found later and that may likely lead to the increase in their jail term or any other punishment given to them.
