History was made on Sunday in France when Timothy Weah won the French Ligue 1. It is the first time a President son is achieving such in the history of the round leather game. Weah plays for OSC Lille of France. They won Ligue 1 after amassing 83 points in 38 games.

Weah is the son of the current Liberian President, George Weah. Regardless of his good background, Weah condescended himself and join others to rub shoulders in the round leather game. Since his father was a footballer, he was born with an auspicious football career ahead of him. Unlike his other siblings, he took after his father. After a successful trial, he seemed well on his way to having an auspicious national team debut. This was how it started and since then he has been playing for the US national team. He has played for all the US national teams. As we all know only those that can do it well will be given such an opportunity to play for the U17, U20, U23 and now the US national team.

In Ligue 1, he has appeared in 37 games scoring 4 in the process. The centre forward left-winger is the chip of the old block. Time will tell if he will be an apposite match of his father who also played the round leather game.

The last time a serving President's son played football was in the days of the then president of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi. His third son, Al-Saadi Gaddafi was a football player. His playing styles were different from Weah as it was suspicious that his roles owed more to his name than his talent. Unlike Weah, he Played throughout his career without winning silverware.

In addition to Ligue 1 title, Weah has other trophies he won.
