It's surprising to realize the effect of what greed could cause, as it was the case of one of the suspect who was arrested for kidnappings in Kaduna state, after he revealed that he was an Okada rider, before being lured and promised that he will make more money from kidnapping. One of the three suspects who were paraded, according to Punch saw a 24 years old father of three children stressing that he joined the kidnap gang, all because of greed.

According to Abubakar Yakubu, one of the suspect who confessed to the crime, he said he dropped out of primary school, and went into the rearing of cattle, before he was able to buy a tricycle (Okada) and began to carry passengers. 

The suspect who comes from Giwa local government area of Kaduna said before he joined kidnapping, he was making 3,000 Naira daily from his Okada job. However, speaking further, the suspect stressed that he met Sanusi, who is still wanted by the police, and he was the one who promised him that he will make more money from kidnapping.


The suspect who was paraded also stressed that in every ransom paid, he gets about 16,000 to 30,000 Naira, which he used to buy food and some clothes. Yakuba noted that he led the police to the arrest of the two others after he was caught in Biye village while going about their operation. 

According to the police, the suspect and his accomplice have been involved in multiple kidnappings in the state before their arrest.

 Many nonetheless commended the efforts of the security agencies in the fight to end kidnappings and insurgency in the nation.
