1. House Of Representative To Scrap NYSC As Bill Against The Scheme Reaches Second Reading.



The House Of Representative which is the second arm of Nigeria's Federal lawmaking institutions is currently making effort to scrape the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).


 
Indiscriminate killing of corp members in parts of the country during ethnic and religious crisis, low remuneration paid by those employing NYSC corp members are among reasons why the scheme should be scraped as stated by the sponsor of the bill.


Mr Awaji-Inombek Abiante (the bill sponsor) equally pointed out that, a lot of public and private organizations are no longer recruiting graduates because of the NYSC corp members being posted continuously to their offices.


2. Police Killed Four Suspected Members Of IPOB/ESN In Anambra State Yesterday.




 
The police In Anambra State has given full detail of the attacks carried out on Police 'B' Divisional Station, and the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by suspected members of ESN/IPOB yesterday to newsmen.

According to Daily Trust Newspaper, four of the attackers were reportedly gunned down by the police at the INEC headquarters in Awka. The report also says that, two of them were captured alive during exchange of gunfire.



Vehicles, guns, hammers, and other dangerous items were recovered from the attackers. The attackers set vehicles, and a building containing several generator sets ablaze in the INEC office in Awka.

3. Why I Didn't Attend The Meeting With Bola Tinubu, Other APC Leaders In Lagos — Governor Akeredolu Speaks.

The executive governor of Ondo State, Oluwa Rotimi Akeredolu has given the reason why he did not attend the meeting of the APC (South-West) leaders, held in Lagos some days ago with Bola Ahmed Tinubu in attendance.

The governor states that, slight mixed-up and communication gap were majorly responsible for his absence in the all important meeting.

He gave his full support to the outcomes of the meeting which includes the party's support for Southern Governors' ban on open grazing in the region. (Source: Sahara Reporters).

4. A Student Died In Kaduna While Charging Phone At Fuel Filling Station.



The management of Kaduna State College of Nursing and Midwifery has announced the death of one of their students (Lydia Dantata).

According to the report made known by 'The Nation Newspaper', the student went with her colleagues to charge phones at a fuel station opposite Kafanchan campus of the institution before the fire out break that resulted in her death, occurred.

There was an electrical fault at the place where they were charging their phones which leads to the inferno at the fuel station, the report says.

Although, Lydia Dantata wasn't the only student who sustained burnt injury during the incident, but she is the only one that has been confirmed dead by the school authority as at the time of this report.

She died while receiving treatment at a hospital in the area.
