Buhari Defends Fulani Herdsmen Over S/W Governor's Claims:

The president of Nigeria, Muhammad Buhari has defended the rights of Fulani herdsmen to reside in anywhere in the nation while he dismissed the ban on open grazing by the Southern Governor's as illegal.

The Governors at a meeting which was held in Delta State, Asaba on May 11 banned open grazing and movements of cattles in attempt to reduce the herdsmen/farmers clashes in the Southern part of the country.

However, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Muhammad Buhari, Shehu Garba on Monday reacted to the statement in Abuja saying that the southern governors' ban on open grazing has a “questionable legality”.

He further said: "Buhari has researched a number of specific strategies to end the frequent skirmishes as advised by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Alhaji Sabo Nanno in a report he submitted and the president signed for it's approval back in April before the Southern Governor's Forum which attempt to place a ban on open grazing”

“It is so obvious that there was no solution offered from their resolutions to the Fulani herdsmen/Farmers clashes that has proved it's consistency for generations”.
